About the project

This custom poolside pavilion project in East Tennessee gave a backyard with a great pool and a great view something it was missing: a covered space to actually enjoy both. The open patio had no shade, no shelter, and nothing to anchor the outdoor living area around. Revival Properties designed and built a timber frame pavilion that solved all of that while adding real architectural presence to the property.

The result is a structure that gets used. It is built well enough to last, designed well enough to look intentional, and sized correctly for the space it sits in.

The Framing and Structure

Heavy timber posts and beams make up the frame of this pavilion. The structure was designed to be substantial. Not the kind of outdoor build that shifts, sags, or shows its age after a couple of East Tennessee winters. Posts were set on proper footings and the entire frame was built square and true from the ground up.

The pitched roof gives the pavilion its presence on the property. The roofline has enough slope to shed water efficiently and enough height to keep the space underneath feeling open rather than cramped. From the pool and from the yard, the structure reads as a permanent, well built feature of the property rather than something added on as an afterthought.

The Ceiling and Fan

A ceiling fan was installed inside the pavilion to keep air moving through the space during warm East Tennessee summers. The interior ceiling work was finished cleanly to give the underside of the roof a polished look that matches the quality of the framing below it. Recessed beam details and clean lumber throughout give the ceiling visual interest without overcomplicating the design.

The Result

This East Tennessee poolside pavilion is what outdoor living looks like when the structure is built to the same standard as the interior work we do. Heavy timber framing, a solid roof, a ceiling fan, and a stamped concrete patio that ties it all together into a space that gets used every season.
